Harvard Graduate School of Education hosted a symposium on “Cultivating Civic Consciousness in China” at Harvard Center Shanghai on December 12 and 13, 2014. Combining perspectives from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the West, the symposium has gathered around 40 leading researchers in civic development with experts on China’s civil society, political institutions, and educational reforms and generated a fruitful discussion regarding what good citizenship is, and how it is cultivated.
