2017 Africa-Asia Conference

Organized by the Harvard Center for African Studies, the 2017 Africa-Asia Conference was hosted at Harvard Center Shanghai on November 16 and 17. The primary goal of the confernece was to raise public and scholarly awareness of the connections between Africa and Asia. In the conference, scholars, policymakers and the private sector explored interdisciplinary issues on health, science, technology, and industry.

This conference was led by Emmanuel Akyeampong, Ellen Gurney Professor of History and of African and African American Studies, Michael Szonyi, Professor of Chinese History, and Karen Thornber, Professor of Comparative Literature and of East Asian Languages and Civilizations.
