Harvard Center Shanghai has been running the HBS Case Teaching Open Class Series since 2016. On November 18, John Kim, Senior Lecturer of Business Administration, conducted the AltSchool case teaching for participants from education, innovation, investment and other sectors. By studying the case AltSchool: School Reimagined, participants had the opportunity to explore how an education technology company can build new education technology tools, and alter school structures, as well as funding models to set the stage for a new model for the education sector.
At HBS, John Kim created and teaches the second-year course Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovations in Education. He is also the Co-Chair of the Public Education Leadership Project (PELP), a joint project of HBS and Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prof. Kim currently serves on several non-profit and corporate boards. Prior to joining HBS, he was an Executive Vice President of Rakuten, Inc. and worked at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant.
