The Harvard Center Shanghai hosted a talk and reception with Professor Joshua D. Coval, Jay O. Light Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, on Thursday, March 13th, 2014. Professor Coval gave a presentation entitled “When Smart Money Gets it Wrong”. 

The talk focused on how financial markets adapt, evolve, and learn, and how, at times, markets become severely mispriced by investors relying on quantitative financial models.The talk also focused on the recent financial crisis but drew parallels to several other historical events including the stock market crash of 1987 and the 1998 failure of Long Term Capital Management.
